WILDFOLK CEILIDH BAND FAQs

How do I know if the band is any good?

A good starting point is to listen to the band’s music downloads. (Almost all the band’s gigs are private functions — wedding celebrations and birthday parties etc — so you almost certainly won’t be able to hear it play live before deciding whether to make a booking. However, all the band members are very talented ceilidh band musicians and are experienced in playing traditional dance music at the highest level. Most important of all, they love the music and play with an infectious enthusiasm!

Is the band flexible?

Most members of the Wildfolk Ceilidh Band are multi-instrumentalists, and can easily and quickly adapt to a variety of styles, if, for example, you require a Scottish or Irish feel to your event.

Do we need to know the steps? Do we need to know the dances?

The stepping is very simple and our caller will lead you gently through the dances, so no experience necessary! (Our focus is always on fun and having a good time rather than correctness, though more-experienced dancers will find plenty to challenge them...)

How do I find out if the band is available for my event?

The best way is to e-mail us — we aim to answer promptly. Alternatively, you can ring (07816 085494) to check availability. We will also be able to give you an indication of cost.

When you give me a quote, what does it include?

The price quoted includes everything — the band playing at your Ceilidh, their equipment, travel time and travel expenses.

What information do I need to provide before you can give a quote?

As well as the date of your event we need to know where it is being held (the nearest town if you’re not yet sure of the exact venue) and the approximate times that you would like the band to play.

How do I book the band?

First of all, e-mail or phone to let us know that you’d like to make a definite booking so we can pencil the date in our diary. Then you need to send a deposit to confirm your booking — we’ll tell you how much the deposit is when we give you a quote.

What else do you need to know?

When you confirm your booking we need to know your full postal address (so we can send out your contract) and contact phone number(s), the name and address, including post code, of the venue for your event, together with contact names and numbers there if appropriate.

Anything else?

It’s customary (but not obligatory!) at a Ceilidh to provide the band members with some refreshments, and it’s helpful if you could let us know whether you are willing and able to do this.
