Well... not just weddings — Wildfolk provides musicians and bands for all sorts of special occasions and celebrations — weddings, civil partnerships, hand-fastings, baby namings, garden parties...
Every couple wants a special day, no matter what sort of ceremony they're planning or wherever they plan to hold it. For many years our musicians and ceilidh band have been helping to make those days memorable —
Take, for example, Gemma and Stephen’s wedding at the beautiful Devonshire Fell Hotel in Wharfedale. They wanted a guitarist who could play their choice of music (‘Why Worry’ by Dire Straits and ‘All You Need is Love’ by The Beatles) and also improvise during the ceremony:
“Just wanted to say thanks again for the music you played at our wedding. The first track is extremely special to both of us and your performance was truly lovely. I will always pass on your name to other people who require live music for any occasion. Thanks again for your professional yet relaxed nature which ticked every box we wished for.” (E-mail from Gemma and Stephen Bell.)
Janet and Steve opted for relaxing guitar music at their Register Office wedding in Wakefield. Mark Mawby played a selection of classical pieces by J. S. Bach, S. L. Weiss and Barrios, as well as some of his own compositions.
At Liz and John’s Register Office wedding in Horncastle, Mark played a selection of traditional folk music. The Registrars’ verdict: “... lovely to have something different”.
For the celebration after your ceremony you may choose to have live background music while your guests arrive and during the meal.
For example, w e can provide you with:

Not sure about the usual evening disco at the reception (which, after the the intitial enthusiasm wears off, invariably ends up with two little girls dancing on their own while their brother slides across the floor on his knees... )?
Have a Ceilidh or Barn Dance instead — great ways to get everyone up, mixing and dancing! Whether your guests are complete beginners or seasoned Ceilidh aficionados, the experienced caller and no-nonsense top-class musicians in the Wildfolk Ceilidh Band will ensure that they have a great time.
The Wildfolk Ceilidh Band played at Chris and Kate Bates’ wedding celebration. Chris, himself a ceilidh band musician, has kindly given permission to quote his words (received by e-mail): “Just wanted to say thanks — the band were absolutely superb! Please pass my thanks on to them all. If we ever need a band again, we know where to look! We had a wonderful wedding day and they really contributed to the atmosphere.”
Andy and Lesley Anne have also kindly allowed us to quote from their e-mail: “We wanted to take the opportunity to thank Wildfolk and Mark for making our wedding day at Oulton Hall extra special. The morning was perfect, and when we arrived to hear Mark playing Prelude, that really set the scene for the rest of the day. The Wildfolk Ceilidh band really got everyone up and dancing, and I've had several comments as to how clear and easy to understand the instructions were (including helpful demos!). Several of the wedding guests had attended a ceilidh before, and all told me that they had a fantastic time (certainly rings true if the photos are anything to go by!). If we have another ceilidh again we'll be contacting you, and would recommend you to anyone!”

Please get in touch to discuss your requirements and enquire about availability of our musicians and the Ceilidh Band. You can listen to the Ceilidh Band and Mark Mawby playing guitar on our Downloads page.
